Green Up Day and Town Fair
Saturday, May 3, 2025

May 3rd is the time to get out in Williston and clean up our roadsides to make a huge difference for the environment! In 2024, Williston collected 2.47 tons and 63 tires (up from 1.79 tons & 42 tires in 2023). Can we beat our record??

Learn more about this longstanding Vermont tradition and support Green Up Day, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, by purchasing a t-shirt or reusable water bottle on their website

Williston Instructions:

  1. Use the Green Up Vermont App to form a team and claim an area (map tip: place several pins along your route from beginning to end). Download here: Apple Store or Google Play.
    • Not sure where to green up? Need help with the app? Call Planning & Zoning at 802-878-6704 or stop by the office at 7878 Williston Road.

  2. Pick up green bags: Be realistic and fill all you take! Return unused bags. Groups & kids: use grocery bags or buckets then consolidate to green bags.
    • April 22 to May 2: A limited daily allotment of bags will be available at a 24/7 self-service station outside Town Hall Annex, 7878 Williston Road
    • May 3: 9am-12pm at Town Fair on the Village Green, 40 Central School Drive

  3. Green up Williston! Before heading out, review the safety card below and share it to your team. Leave filled bags and large items like tires on the side of a public road. Many groups like to green up the preceding week. Return unused bags to Town Hall Annex so we can use them again next year. Report your work and volunteer count to us or on the app.

  4. Attend Town Fair! 9am-12pm on Saturday, May 3 at the Village Green. Stop by before or after greening up Williston for coffee and snacks, raffles, giveaways, and more!
