Energy Committee
Deadline:
Open until filled - unexpired 3-year term
Position Objectives Are you concerned about the impacts of climate change and rising energy bills, but are not sure what to do about it? Join the Williston Energy Committee! The Energy Committee is a group of enthusiastic Williston residents who are dedicated to transforming the way Williston uses and produces energy while enhancing the health and vigor of the Town’s local economy and long-term affordability for residents. The Energy Committee is seeking to fill one open position on the seven member committee. This position is for an unexpired 3-year term through June 30, 2027. There has never been a more exciting and opportune time to be working on climate and energy issues! Over the coming year, the Energy Committee will be developing plans to leverage the multitude of funding available for renewable energy projects, energy efficiency and energy education projects for the benefit of the Williston community and beyond. For this effort, to take advantage of every opportunity, we need another hand on deck!
Duties and Responsibilities The Town Energy Committee was established by the Selectboard in October 2021. The Committee is responsible for advising the Planning Commission concerning energy policy for land use and taking an active lead in delivering community engagement and education regarding energy efficiency and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions for residents and businesses. The Committee will consist of 5-7 members serving three-year terms. In establishing the committee the initial appointees will have staggered term lengths of one to three years. All members of the committee must be Williston residents.
