Water Quality Monitoring

In the summers of 2007, 2008, 2010-2016, the Williston Conservation Commission partnered with the state's LaRosa Environmental Laboratory to collect and analyze water samples from what evolved to eight sampling locations along the Allen Brook. These samples were tested for levels of E.coli, total phosphorus (TP), turbidity (NTU) and temperature.

Land development has well-documented impacts on water quality. Changes in these parameters have a direct impact on the stability of a stream’s channel; the health of the aquatic, wetland, and riparian communities associated with the stream; and the land uses along it. These impacts along with state and federal mandates have propelled Williston into a major role in watershed management.
