Williston's Permitting Procedures In Williston, some types of work require only an administrative permit, which can be applied for and approved by the Zoning Administrator. Most commercial development, new residential subdivisions, and most work proposed in Williston Village must be reviewed by the Development Review Board before the Administrator can issue a permit. If you are unsure of what type of permit your project requires, please call us at 802-878-6704. Please also be advised that certain uses of land and new developments will be subject to other applicable town ordinances and specifications that are not part of Williston's Unified Development Bylaw. Planning and Zoning staff can help you navigate these requirements. Williston Permitting Process Steps Discretionary Permit Process- Detailed Administrative permit applications are generally reviewed on a weekly basis by the staff on Monday mornings. Discretionary permits are generally scheduled to be heard by the Development Review Board (DRB) five to six weeks after their date of submission. This time-frame allows adequate time for staff, interdepartmental, and advisory board review as well as legally required public and abutter notices. |

File Research: No appointment is needed for in-person file research. Please contact us for an appointment if you plan on extensive file research on several properties or older files. Only recent administrative permits are available online.
Permitting Forms & Questions: No appointment is needed for picking up permit forms, dropping off a completed administrative permit application, or simple zoning questions.
