Recommended motion: Pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 4430 (c), I ______ move that the Williston Planning Commission recommends that the Williston FY22 Capital Budget is in line with the goals and policies of the 2016-2024 Williston Comprehensive Plan, with the following additional recommendations:
· To ensure consistency with the Energy Plan goals: o Consider integration of solar panels into the Fire Department roof replacement and other future roof replacements. o Include a cost analysis in the Capital Budget of electric vehicles versus gas powered vehicles for all new vehicle purchases and vehicle replacements (this includes mowers), with the goal of transitioning to a mostly or all electric fleet over time.
o Sidewalk plowing is a priority for town residents and is especially important during the pandemic. To ensure all sidewalks are plowed in a timely manner, purchase of a second sidewalk plow should happen as soon as possible and should not be postponed to a future year. o Budget reductions should not disproportionately fall on parks and recreation; rather, cost control burdens should be equitably distributed across all town departments.
