This workshop sponsored by the Williston Housing Committee was held on October 7, 2026. Over 15 people came out to hear about how small lot subdivisions and “missing middle” housing can help create more housing choices for residents while preserving the character of existing neighborhoods.

Vermont Housing Improvement Program (VHIP): VHIP offers grants up to $50,000 per unit for repairs needed to bring vacant rental units up to Vermont Rental Housing Health Code guidelines, add new units to an existing building, or create an accessory dwelling unit on an owner-occupied property. This ‘Design & Do’ Toolkit is a Missing Middle Home builders’ how-to workbook that provides a comprehensive roadmap to real estate development for first-timers for ADUs and up to 4-unit infill development.
• 802 Homes Catalogue: The 802 Homes catalog will put 10 community-tested, locally pre-permitted home designs in the hands of small-scale developers to accelerate the timeline from site selection to move-in day. The project will deliver construction-ready, pre-approved housing plan sets that communities can adopt to streamline development review, cut costs, and accelerate infill housing production.
