Meeting Minutes 9-13-16
Minutes of September 13, 2016 Cemetery Meeting
Members present: Don Thurston, Bea Harvey, Hazel Winter
Meeting called to order 6 PM
At least 10 stones cleaned and some repaired in Chittenden Cemetery, at least 3 repaired and cleaned in Morse Cemetery. Very happy with outcome.
Would like to get an article in the Observer by Nov 11, Veteran's Day and mention the Civil War and Revolutionary War Veterans we have in our cemeteries. The commission is working hard, and we're proud of it. If there's enough left in the budget this year, we'll have Morse all cleaned and fixed, and plan to move forward next year.
Next meeting we need to go over the budget request and ask for more for tree removal and stone repair and cleaning.
Sections 5 and 6 desperately need topsoil and seeding. They are disgraceful due to the lack of good soil, it all seems to be sand. Possibly the Boy Scouts, anyone looking for community service or part of a grad challenge would be interested in spreading topsoil if we can get some through the town. Don will check on this.
Next meeting Oct 11, 2016
Meeting adjourned 8 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Hazel Winter, Secretary |
