PROPERTY TAX BILLS

*The 2024-2025 tax year second installment is due by 11/15/2024.*

TAX BILLS are mailed out on or before July 15th each year to the owner of record as of April 1 of the tax year per state statue. Taxes may be paid in full upon receipt or by each installment due dates to avoid interest. See "Late Payment Penalties" below.*Please keep a copy of your tax bill for Income Tax filing.* 

If you purchased your property after April 1, please contact Town Treasurer, Mary Gratton, to receive a copy of the bill if you did not receive one at your closing. 

Dues Dates:
  • August 15
  • November 15
  • February 15

UTILITY BILLS

Water, sewer, and stormwater bills are mailed out quarterly at least 30 days before the due date. If you are moving and need a final reading scheduled, please call the Public Works Department at 802-878-1239.

Due Dates:
  • March 31
  • June 30
  • September 30
  • December 31

PAYMENTS

If the due date falls on a weekend or a holiday, the payment is due on the following business day. Mailed payments are considered on time if they are postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before the due date. 
There is no grace period for tax and utility payments. 

Payment Options:

  • Cash or checks made payable to "Town of Williston"
  • Direct payment via ACH debits Direct Debit Form
  • On-line payments by credit card or electronic check Online Payments

Late Payment Penalties:

  • Property Tax: Payments received after the due date are considered delinquent and interest charges are levied in the amount of 1% per month for the first three months and 1.5% per month thereafter.  In addition, a 1% penalty is charged on any balance due after February 15.  
  • Utility: Payments received after the due date are considered delinquent and a 10% penalty will be charged.

Note:  If you are using automatic bank checks (i.e. Bill Pay), please allow at least 15 days prior to the due date for delivery.  The checks come in envelopes that are not postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service and therefore are considered past due if they are not received on or before the due date even if the funds are withdrawn from your bank account on or before to the due date.

  • Drop tax or utility payments in either of the two drop boxes in the back of the Town Hall
  • Mail tax payments to: Town of Williston, 7900 Williston Road, Williston, VT  05495
  • Mail utility payments to: Town of Williston, P.O. Box 1361, Brattleboro, Vermont 05302
