Position Objectives

There is one open position is for an unexpired 5-year term ending on 6/30/2027.

Meeting Information

The Commission meets once a month from April through November, and as needed (very infrequently) from December through March. The Commission has some duties that extend beyond meetings as explained more below. 


Duties and Responsibilities

The Cemetery Commission consists of five Commissioners appointed by the Selectboard to staggered five year terms. (18 V.S.A. § 5373). 

The Commissioners are responsible for understanding and enforcing rules and regulations, and for coordinating the care of the Town’s cemeteries. Responsibilities, shared among the group, include (mostly during the months of May - November):

  • Oversee cemetery maintenance, and coordinate repairs.
  • Perform weekly cemetery assessments.
  • Coordinate veterans' flag placement in the Spring and removal in late-Fall.
  • Attend ceremonies to obtain burial/cremains certificates and file them with the Town Clerk.
  • Maintain accurate interment records and update official maps.
  • Address cemetery inquiries, schedule interments and ceremonies, and manage lot availability.
