Historic and Design Advisory Committee

Position Objectives There are two open positions available:
Meeting Information Meetings are held on an as-needed basis. If needed, they are scheduled for 5:30 PM on the first or third Tuesday of the month and last no more than 90 minutes.
Duties and Responsibilities The 7-person Historic and Design Advisory Committee (HDAC) is responsible for making recommendations to the Development Review Board on applications within the Design Review Area (Chapter 22 of the Unified Development Bylaws). They also make recommendations regarding Certificates of Appropriateness for proposed construction, reconstruction, alteration, subdivision or other specified development in the Village Zoning District (Chapter 42 and Appendix H). In addition, they provide guidance on preservation to owners of historic structures and perform other duties as set forth in the bylaws and state law (24 V.S.A. 4407).
Minimum Requirements Must have a demonstrated interest, competence or knowledge in historic preservation. Professionals from the following disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply (residency in Williston not required): historic preservation, history, archeology, architectural history, architecture and historical architecture, or related disciplines such as urban planning, American studies, American civilization, cultural geography, or cultural anthropology.
