A motion was made by Drew Nelson and seconded by Cameron Clark, and the Commission unanimously approved the minutes. The Commission did not receive a recent fiscal year 2024 budget report for this meeting. Nelson provided a status on the proposed Morse Cemetery Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) research for suspected unmarked burials. He is working on connecting with the Town’s Finance Director to discuss possible funding options for the project. Shannon Hiltner reached out to the Boy Scouts’ contact regarding a possible collaboration project for a Veterans Burial Record Display Case in Deer View Cemetery. She has not yet received a response. Jack Price updated the Commission that he has been in contact with James ‘Woody’ Woodman regarding monument repair. Nelson discussed the interments planned for the spring, and sales of lots from April 15, 2024 to the present. He stated there has been one interment so far and there are six interments scheduled. There were no lot sales during this period. Nelson also discussed the division and re-deeding of Nepalese Church lots in Deer View Cemetery. Nelson and Price updated the Commission on lot measurements and corrections in Deer View Cemetery. They discovered a discrepancy of the map measurement and actual space. To resolve the issue, the Commission eliminated an available lot in Deer View. Price discussed a possible Memorial Garden refurbishment project. A group of volunteers have generously offered to help fund the design and cost to plant new and maintainable items around the Memorial Garden area. They will make a proposal that the Commission will consider at a later meeting. Cameron Clark discussed the annual Veteran’s flag placements in cemeteries by Boy Scouts. She ordered a new box of flags that is expected to arrive soon. However, there is likely enough supply to begin the annual placement of flags. She is waiting to hear from Boy Scouts in terms of coordinating their involvement. The Commission next discussed the opening of the gates for East and Deer View cemeteries to take place on Friday, May 10, 2024. The Commission’s next meeting will be held June 20, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Dorothy Alling Memorial Library, Williston Historical Society Room.
