Why should I apply?
Three reasons why you should volunteer
1. Strong Tradition - The Town of Williston has a strong tradition of community participation. 2. Rewarding Efforts - Volunteers can be involved in actions such as preparing ordinances and regulations relating to land use; helping develop and oversee services such as recreation; or perhaps they may work towards preserving open space or the historic nature of the village. These efforts can be very rewarding and provide an opportunity to contribute to your community. 3. Participation is critical - Citizen participation is critical to the success of a democratic government form. A community without regular interaction among citizens is less a community than a random collection of people. Without active participation, it is difficult for a community to agree on what problems to address and how to move forward collectively to solve them. OK, I'm interested. How can I learn more? Familiarize yourself with the board, commission, or committee you are interest in. You may want to attend meetings, talk with staff, or read previous meeting minutes. Depending on the nature of a volunteer position, candidates may be interviewed. The Board or person responsible for making the appointment will decide on appointments and appointees will receive a confirmation letter from the Office of the Town Manager.
